Florida Tax Collector Allegedly Used Public Funds To Fund Blockchain Startup

The Tax Collector for Seminole county in Florida, Joel Greenberg used over sixty-five thousand USD worth of public funds for a private digital asset venture, as per the county records.

At the time, Greenberg was working as the Tax Collector for Seminole county in Florida. In order to start a blockchain company, he purportedly used public money to fund the private venture.

Subsequent to forming Government Blockchain Systems LLC last year, the tax collector billed the public office sixty five thousand eight hundred and sixty USD to purchase computer servers for the company, as per the Orlando Sentinel.

In the due course, he returned the money, sending a concluding check to the office in the month of February, to pay the remaining balance. In October 2019, the taxman had set up consultant contracts and salaries with individuals to the tune of over three million USD, as per the Sentinel report.

Seminole County has ordered a detailed forensic audit to find out any evidence of other unethical doings and look into a number of doubtful hiring choices made by Greenberg, as per the Sentinel.
