Facebook’s Libra Appoints Former HSBC Europe CEO As Managing Director

The Libra Association has appointed former chief executive of investment bank HSBC Europe, James Emmett, as the managing director of Libra Networks, as per a recent announcement. Emmett will start working on his new role from 1st October. Emmett mentioned,

“As someone who is passionate about the opportunities for financial services and technology to make a real difference, I am delighted to be joining Libra Networks with a mission to enhance financial innovation and inclusion and to deliver the operationalization of the network.”

As per the announcement, Emmett worked at the investment bank for twenty-five years. The announcement further mentioned that Emmett is

 “an experienced financial services leader with a wealth of global experience in business, strategy, technology, and operations.”

Earlier, he worked at the positions of the COO at the bank and the chief executive role of HSBC Bank plc and Europe.

Notably, Emmett’s appointment is the latest in a series of key development updates in the Libra ecosystem this year, including the recent appointments of Stuart Levey as Chief Executive Officer, Steve Bunnell as Chief Legal Officer, Sterling Daines as Chief Compliance Officer, and as well as the addition of new members.
