Spelinspektionen, the gaming authority of Sweden, has warned igaming operator Enlabs that it might lose its license if it does not start gaming activities in the nation by the month of July.
Notably, Enlabs was given a licence to operate online gaming and betting in December 2018 prior to Sweden’s planned igaming market inauguration on 1st January 2019.
Nevertheless, the operator is yet to go live in Sweden, as per Spelinspektionen. The regulator has issued an official notice to Enlabs, due to the absence of action. The warning mentioned that if Enlabs does not start gaming activities before 1st July 2020, the regulator might take out the online betting and gaming licence. Furthermore, the igaming licence permits Enlabs to operate under a range of domains and is valid till 31st December, 2023.
George Ustinov, the chief executive of Enlabs, commented that the warning was not unanticipated and embarked plans to initiate operations in Sweden before the time limit given.
Ustinov said,
“The Swedish Gambling Authority decision to give us a warning due to inactivity was not unexpected and does not change our communicated strategy for the Swedish market.”
