Keanu Reeves: Dismissing Crypto Will Only Make It Better

The Matrix star and renowned actor Keanu Reeves says dismissing cryptocurrency or denouncing its volatility will only make it better in terms of how it’s safeguarded. Reaves further added that the principle and ideas behind an independent currency are astonishing.

Reeves talked about digital assets in an interview with Wired, published recently. The Matrix and John Wick star mentioned,

“I think the principle, the ideas behind an independent currency are amazing. These are amazing tools for exchanges and distribution of resources.”

Without providing further details, he added,

“So, to pooh-pooh crypto, or the volatility of cryptocurrency, it’s only going to make it better in terms of how it’s safeguarded.”

Earlier, the Hollywood star divulged that he owned digital assets, adding that he had not done anything with it. At the time, he mentioned,

“A friend of mine bought some for me a while back.”

The Matrix star also elucidated how he became an adviser to the Futureverse Foundation, a charitable organization launched in the month of June last year by Non-Fungible Labs, a New Zealand-based NFT and blockchain technology firm. In addition to supporting underrepresented artists, the foundation delineated that it attempts to help keep the metaverse widely accessible, healthy, and evolving.

Reeves further said,

“It’s something my partner, Alexandra Grant, is really interested in, so I’m kind of riding her coattails. I helped set up the launch.”

Notably, both Reeves and Grant are advisers to the Futureverse Foundation. Reeves further added,

“We’re trying to take this technology that people are interested in and give opportunities to artists with different viewpoints.”

Furthermore, commenting on the social media network Facebook making the metaverse a priority, Reeves mentioned:

“It’s like they’ve created more land. There’s more land for sale. It’s wealth creation and it’s an opportunity.”

Earlier, the Matrix star put across his skepticism about non-fungible tokens, mentioning that they are “easily produced.” In the month of December 2021, he even expressed his distrust towards Facebook’s metaverse.
