The official Ukraine digital asset wallets are now accepting donations from the Polkadot ecosystem. The ecosystem’s co-founder Gavin Wood has donated around 5.8 Million USD (298,367 DOT) worth of DOT tokens for the same.
Calls from the virtual asset community for Ukraine to accept other digital assets have been answered. The official Ukraine Twitter account shared that it will now accept donations from Polkadot, while other virtual currencies will soon be added.
Gavin Wood, the co-founder of Polkadot had earlier shared that if the Ukraine crypto wallets were to add DOT, he would personally contribute five million dollars. He fulfilled his promise, donating 298,367.2269896686 DOT, which is approximately 5.7 Million dollars, to Ukrainian wallets.
Certainly, Wood’s donation is one of the biggest individual digital currency donations to date. FTX, the crypto exchange founded by Sam Bankman-Fried, donated twenty five dollars to each Ukrainian on his crypto exchange platform, while CEO Deepak Thapliyal of Chain.com donated one hundred Ether (over 280k USD).
Apart from Wood, the Polkadot ecosystem had already contributed more than 210k USD to the official DOT wallet for Ukraine since this morning, as per Polkadot blockchain data.
To date, the digital asset community has been swift to come to the help of Ukraine with donations and words of motivation. Twitter observers noted that Ukraine’s innovative digital asset activity was an endeavor at “making history.”
