David Schwartz, Ripple’s CTO has responded to a conspiracy theory fabricated by newly released AI tool ChatGPT, which claims the XRP Ledger is somehow being covertly controlled by Ripple.
As per a recent Twitter thread by user Stefan Huber, when asked a series of questions apropos the decentralization of Ripple’s XRP Ledger, the ChatGPT bot proposed that while people might participate in the governance of the blockchain, Ripple has the “ultimate control” of XRP Ledger.
When questioned how this is attainable without the consensus of participants and its publicly-available code, the Artificial Intelligence tool stated that Ripple may have “abilities that are not fully disclosed in the public source code.”
At one point, the Artificial Intelligence tool mentioned, “The ultimate decision-making power” for XRPL “still lies with Ripple Labs” and the company could make changes “even if those changes do not have the support of the supermajority of the participants in the network.”
Nevertheless, Ripple CTO David Schwartz has called the bot’s logic into question, justifying that with that logic, Ripple might covertly control the BTC network as it neither can be determined from the code.
Notably, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman mentioned upon its release on 30th November, its “an early demo” and is “very much a research release.” The tool has already seen over a million users, as per a 5th December tweet by Altman.
