Ethereum 2.0 Developers Divulge Testnet Specifications Before Network Launch

Ethereum 2.0 developers recently divulged the details of the official testnet, prior to a supposed end-of-year unveiling. The testnet dubbed “Medalla” will commence in the first week of August this year.

Notably, the testnet is deployed by the Ethereum Foundation. The testnet is still run by a distributed group of developers, programmers, and code auditors organized by fork controller Afri Schoedon.

The code base of the network is approaching ready for launch as developers and investors have started to wish for the multi-year project’s official launch. Justin Drake, an Eth 2.0 researcher, lately declared a one-sided attempt to get the 1st part of the network shipped before the year’s end due to pushback on a later date.

The testnet joins several preceding tests of Eth 2.0’s code bank on numerous client applications. These include Witti, Görli, Schlesi and Altona.

Additionally, each testnet has chosen to exercise or concentrate on dissimilar parts of Eth 2.0’s initiation sequence, given the massive technical encounters linked with moving a running blockchain network onto a completely dissimilar consensus algorithm.
