Sham Ledger Chrome Extension Found Stealing Cryptocurrency From Alleged Coronavirus Victim

Counterfeit Google Chrome extensions for digital asset cold wallet manufacturer, Ledger, continue to dupe individuals.

On 28th March, a user published a post on Reddit in a quest to caution others that they had just lost 14,908 XRP tokens (over twenty five hundred USD) to a counterfeit Ledger Wallet browser extension on the Google Chrome store.

As per the poster, leannekera, the lost funds comprised money that she and her husband had been growing since 2017 for their future. The crypto wallet that her XRP was sent to speedily advanced her funds to a second wallet that presently holds approximately fifteen million USD in terms of XRP.

Leannekera asserts to be a verified patient of coronavirus. She mentions that she is in self-imposed quarantine in a solitary room of her house. She mentioned that because of financial problems ensuing her seclusion, leannekera tried to liquidate some of her family’s cryptocurrency holdings, and move any additional funds into XRP.
